Both Durban Locksmiths and ourselves have been caught by a person who phones
about a job to be done at a flat in a comlex where you leave the keys with
the care taker and then he promises to pay by EFT.

The flats are normally empty for some time.
He does not pay and he does not own the flat.

He convinces the care taker that he is an estate agent for the flat and
tells the care taker that a locksmith is sorting out keys for the flat.

He then rents the flat out to someone who pays a deposit and first months
rent and then he disappears.

He sounds coloured or a slight afrikaans accent.

Please warn all other locksmiths about this guy.
He tried to catch Durban Locksmiths again this morninmg after a two month

Just a warning to all of you out there..I had a dude call requesting 50 x  2 lever locksets in a hurry....I quoted a price he said fine....I told him on that quantity I needed payment upfront before I order..he said fine...faxed me a proof of payment that looked legit from Absa bank.....the dude kept calling to enquire if the locks were ready for collection....this made me a bit suspicious so I stalled to see if the money cleared in my account....after 3 working days the money NEVER cleared even though I got a proof of eft payment...when I called the dude he was apologetic and said he would follow up and call me back..never heard from him again and when I call his number its not in service anymore!!

So just be careful there are some clever scamming bastards out there!!
